About Skilled Workers United
The Voice for American Service Workers
Since 1925
Service Workers Union exists to build power for all service‑sector workers—housekeepers, food service workers, retail associates, custodians, drivers, gig workers, and more. We help workers form unions, negotiate strong contracts, defend rights on the job, and win improvements across our industries.
Our Story
Founded by frontline workers and community allies, we were built on a simple idea: the people doing the work should have a real say in how work is done. From the first shop we organized to today’s multi‑site campaigns, we’ve used worker‑led organizing and collective bargaining to raise standards and set new benchmarks for safety, wages, and respect.
